Generations of Sushi Culture
Sushi master Ryuichi Nakano casts a wide net at SanKai, drawing longtime fans and welcoming newcomers to his intimate new sushi restaurant in the heart of downtown Edmonds.
A coveted seat at Nakano’s sushi bar has been a home-away-from home for Seattle sushi lovers for more than a quarter century. First, at I Love Sushi on South Lake Union — where Nakano-san honed his craft for a decade — and later at Kisaku, his own critically acclaimed Green Lake neighborhood restaurant, sold in 2018.
SanKai (translation: mountain/sea) provides a fresh vision for Nakano. He continues to celebrate the Japanese culinary art the Pacific Northwest has long embraced, right here where the Olympic Mountains stand as backdrop to the Salish Sea.
A native of Takayama in the Japan Alps and a longstanding Shoreline, WA resident, Nakano works with his wife Yuka and their son, Toru. Together, they create a warm inviting dining experience, perfect for a family meal or a date-night dinner.
